You need to fly into the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for our medical volunteer program in Kenya. We recommend you talk to our Kenya country coordinator and arrive a day before your project starts.

We provide airport pick up services for all volunteers participating in our medical volunteer project. On arrival, our airport representative will pick you up and drive you to your respective accommodation. For this to take place smoothly, please provide us with your flight details and landing time. In case of a missed, delayed or cancelled flight, you only need to let us know as soon as possible and we will arrange for a new pick-up schedule.

We do not offer airport drop off services, but your host family and our in-country coordinator will be more than happy to help you in booking this.

You will need to get a tourist visa from the official Embassy of Kenya in order to work as a volunteer in Kenya medical projects. You can also get a visa on arrival at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi, Kenya. Visa on arrival is available for citizens of several countries including UK, USA, Canada, Australia, among others. However, we suggest our volunteers to secure visa before heading to Kenya in order to avoid unnecessary complications.

If you wish to continue volunteering in the project then you can extend your tourist visa for another 3 moths by visiting the Immigration Department in Kenya.  Visit this link for detailed information regarding Kenya’s visa process.

The recommended vaccines for volunteering in Kenya by the CDC are Chikungunya, Tuberculosis, Measles and Rubella, Hepatitis B, Mumps, Malaria, Meningococcal, Schistosomiasis, Zika virus, Rabies, DTP, Dengue, Yellow Fever, and Hepatitis A.

Vaccination is important for anyone planning to visit Kenya for volunteering purposes. For your personal health precautions and extra safety, you should consider consulting your doctor for further vaccine recommendations.
